Justin Verlander Trade Puts Mets Fans In A Glass Case Of Emotion

The MLB trade deadline is quickly approaching and we’ve seen some big deals in the closing hours.

However, the Houston Astros turned heads on Tuesday after finalizing a trade for standout pitcher Justin Verlander.

It’s a bit of an odd move considering Verlander was on the Astros last season and the front office let him walk due to the amount of money he was asking for.

But ultimately, it appears Houston will be paying that money anyway.

Meanwhile, the New York Mets, especially the fans, are in a glass case of emotion watching this season unfold. Especially now after the Mets dealt Justin Verlander away via trade.

According to Fox Sports, New York will be acquiring outfielders Drew Gilbert and Ryan Clifford while Verlander finds his way back to Houston.

Considering the Mets basically spent all of their money in the offseason to build a super team, the fanbase just simply can’t believe how things have played out.

They’re currently in fourth place in the NL East and time is running out for the Mets to make a playoff run. So, ultimately it makes sense why they traded Verlander.

But yeah. Most Mets fans aren’t doing so well.

Although Mets fans are upset with the Justin Verlander trade, this should be viewed as a great deal for them.

Not only did they unload Verlander’s contract, but they also received two top prospects. Additionally, the Astros ended up bringing back Verlander but lost their prospects in the process.

In the end, Houston made sure to acquire Verlander for another World Series push. With that in mind, it’s tough to say who really won this trade.
