HARBOUR GRACE, N.L. — First, there was the iconic "dickie berg" iceberg.

Then there was a soap version, launched earlier this month by Labrador-based Coastal Soapworks, which sold over 100 orders in just two days.

Now it's reemerged again in Harbour Grace – this time not as a colossal mass of ice, but as an intricate piece of stained glass artwork.

It only made sense to Cassandra Budgell, the owner of The Glass Girl, to make an ornament that resembled the famous iceberg.

"It was hilarious seeing the iceberg in Harbour Grace and all the people that came through just to get a look of the dickie berg," said Budgell.

Photos of the iceberg – dubbed the "dickie berg" – were captured by Dildo resident Ken Pretty. The photos went viral in April before the iceberg collapsed.

"The reaction online went worldwide, and it ended up being an icon for our iceberg season of 2023."

Budgell makes the iceberg piece with a mix of glass colours aqua greens, turquoise, sky blue and iridescent white opal. She uses a style called waterglass to produce a ripple effect that mimics water.

"It creates stunning colours in the sunlight, and when the light shines through strong, it paints an image on the wall that is unlike anything else," said Budgell.

Since she launched the ornament on July 16 and, as of July 18, has taken about 50 orders.

The Dickie Berg stained glass ornament is $24. Those who are interested can send a message to The Glass Girl on Facebook for more details.
